Group B Strep LinksEvery pregnant woman should know about Group B Strep. If you are pregnant and have not heard of it, please ask your doctor. If you are pregnant, you could be at risk! Group B Strep is the leading infectious killer of newborns. Group B Strep bacteria is a natural occuring bacteria that exists in the intestinal tract of approximately 30% of the population. Group B Strep colonization is usually not a problem for healthy adults, but babies who may ingest the bacteria during labour and delivery can become very ill, resulting in potential long term permanent disabilities or death. |
